Qualifications

We will be happy to consider your application for employment as long as:

1. You are a native level speaker of English

In order for us to consider your application you must have a native level of English. This means that if your first language is not English, you must have a native level of competence in both spoken and written English. If you are not a native level English speaker, you may still be eligible to apply for a place on our TEFL certificate course as long as you have a near-native level of competence, and qualifications at C2 level. This will give you access to our job placement programme, and we will provide all the necessary support and resources to find a job in a location where opportunities exist for non-native level speakers.

2. You have a university degree

The Greek Ministry of Education requires that teachers have a degree. Preference is given to candidates whose degree is related to language or literature, but degrees in any subject are acceptable. We cannot consider applications from anyone without a degree, regardless of other qualifications and experience. You may still apply for a place on our TEFL course, in which case we will assist you in applying for jobs in countries where a degree is not mandatory.

3. You have a TEFL certificate

We accept applications from candidates who already have a TEFL certificate from any recognised course provider. In order to be acceptable, the course must be at least four weeks long and include teaching practice. Online courses are not acceptable. The best preparation for teaching in Greece is to take the TEFL Certificate course offered by Anglo-Hellenic, which leads to a guaranteed job placement. For information about our course, please see teflcorinth.com.

4. You are a citizen of a European Union country

In order to have the right to live and work in Greece, you must be a citizen of a European Union country. Unfortunately, it is extremely difficult for anyone who does not have EU nationality to obtain a visa to work in Greece, and for that reason we can only accept applications for employment from EU citizens. If you do not have EU citizenship, you can still apply to take the TEFL course with us. This will give you access to our job placement programme, and we will provide all the necessary support and resources to find a job in a location where EU citizenship is not required.
